Weight gain

Pregnancy does not mean you need to eat twice as much. In actual fact, during the third trimester of pregnancy, your energy requirements only increase by approx. 250 Kcal. However, choosing the right foods is essential to ensure that your body and that of your baby has everything it needs.

Weight gain generally depends on your pre-pregnancy weight. A woman with a BMI (Body Mass Index) between 18.5 and 25 normally gains approximately 10 to 12 kg. Bear in mind that excessive weight gain can cause discomfort and problems during pregnancy.

Dieting is not recommended under any circumstances, as it can affect the development of the foetus.
